SHOE CARE

Shoes rarely come with a care tag. The best way to take care of your fashion investment is to care for them properly. You will need to know what materials a shoe is made of to know how to best care for it. The first and foremost care tactic for a shoe is to not wear one in conditions that will damage the material. A shoe made of high-end materials should be protected properly with a silicon or weather-proof spray. If a shoe becomes soiled, care for them by following the guide for the appropriate material it is made of.

Smooth leather shoes
-Smooth leather footwear needs to be cleaned with items made specifically for smooth leather. You can find these at any high-end shoe department. After you have properly cleaned the shoes, you will want to use a water protectant. If you do not use a weather shoe protectant, they will become dry and cracked if they are around conditions with moisture.

Microsuede shoes-Microsuede footwear is prone to collecting salt and dirt that is found on walkways in the winter and spring. This can be removed by gently brushing the boots with a dry sponge or towel. A light silicon spray will help to make this process easier in the future. Dry your microsuede shoes near an indirect heat source once you have used silicon spray.

Sheepskin shoes-Sheepskin footwear can be found in brands like Bearpaw and Brumby. This footwear should be cared for by using gentle washing methods. Sheepskin material can be hand washed with a limited amount of water. Stretching the material should be avoided in the process. Wool shoes can be air dried away from direct heat or sun.
